MenCare campaign – Super dad started

Did you know that true equality will only be reached when men are taking on 50 percent of the child care and domestic work?
Did you know that 80 percent of men will become fathers in their lifetime, but nearly all men will have the chance to be involved in the life of a child?

Did you know that Superdad campaign started in Croatia? Status M has launched a project “MenCare – engaging men in achieving gender equality in Međimurje County” through which for the next 12 months will conduct the campaign and workshops with young and future fathers of Međimurje County.

In collaboration with the Institute of Public Health of Međimurje County and the Centre for Social Welfare Čakovec we will carry out workshops with young fathers and their partners from Čakovec and Kuršanec, hold a capacity building seminar to educate professionals from partnering institutions on use of the methodology of the Programme P, adapt the Manual P and organize public presentation of results.

Research has shown that the involvement of men in the provision of child care improves maternal and child health, develops equal relations between partners and reduces domestic violence. Also, engaging in child care improves the quality of life of men and prolongs their lifespan.

With this project campaign in Međimurje is connected to the global and regional MenCare campaign carried out in 30 countries on five continents with aim of involving fathers in the provision of care in order to create a gender-equal and non-violent society.

The project is carried out trough EEA and Norway grants, coordinated by National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
