Every year, on the 21st of September, world unites to celebrate the International Day of Peace. The next day, 22nd, is commemorated in Croatia as National day against violence over women. Status:M was very active in the past couple of days to commemorate this important days for our organization.
On Saturday, 21st of September, Status:M team gathered in front of the Museum of modern art in Zagreb to participate in a event organized by Volunteering centre Zagreb. We had an opportunity to organize a workshop on the subject of gender, health and violence. A initial group of 10 participants was constantly growing as the workshop progressed. We are especially pleased that some of the young participants stayed to talk with us after the workshop.
The next day Status:M was guest on a talk show “Govornica”, showing on HRT 4. Andrea Pandurović Ugrin from VCZ and Nikola Tadić from Status:M talked about volunteering in Croatia. You can see the talk show on this link on our youtube channel.
Theatre Vidra in Zagreb opened its doors for a play titled “Ja sam…”. Zajednica saveza osoba s invaliditetom, Mreža žena s invaliditetom and Status:M have joined together in commemorating the National day against violence over women, commemorated annually on the 22nd of September.
The event was focused around a play titled “Ja sam…”. The play promotes healthy lifestyle, nonviolence and gender equality. “Ja sam…” presents everyday life of young men and women, with the focus on presenting the roots and effects of risky and dangerous behaviour. Many distinguished guests attended the event and give their applause to a group of young actors, many of which are Status:M volunteers.
We are very grateful for these three active days. Nonviolence and promoting peace in every moment and every communication are some of the main missions of Status:M. Our methodology and many of our activities are focused around educating young people on the problem of violence over women. We are all invited to get violence out of our lives and communities.
