Status: M organizes workshops every week for two hours for ten months, in three cycles of twelve workshops. Total of 30 young men finish educational cycle in duration of three months, separated into two cycles of workshop for twelve weeks.
Youth Organization Status: M implements the project Be a man, get moving-working with young men in on improving community, through working with young men aged 13-18 years who have so far presented risky behavior and behavioral disorders. Through building the skills and knowledge necessary for dealing with potentially harmful situations while growing up with a positive outcome, young men develop responsibility for their own actions and actively involved in community by working for common good through positive peer groups. Centers for Social Welfare of the City of Zagreb, and in particular Branch Peščenica, indicate young men to workshops as a support to educational measure issued because of behavioral problems or risky behavior. At the end of each cycle, groups organize public action in a community, which contribute to the life of the community, recognizing the need first, then drawing up intervention and then implementing the action itself.
Methodology we use is an example of using gender transformativa practice, which requires from participants to review and create a new and more favorable gender constructs in society.
The importance of equality of men and women for each sex is the idea that participants will adopt and promote in their own environment.
Through our work, we will review harmful manifestations of aggressive masculinity, and encourage self definition of masculine honor, which is based on non-violence, equality and building social, physical and mental well-being of individuals and communities.
In this way they involve themselves in active life of the community and encourage and prove to themselves and others positive outcome of that change which was started trough workshops, at the same time confirming them in a role of valuable and useful member. It is about actions of low cost in a community (graphite, helping the ones in need).
Within the project, we will organize a counseling for members, every two weeks for at least two hours. It will be a way that young men involved in the training process get support even after workshop cycles end, as well as during the same.
Also, through counseling customers will get a chance to talk individually with project staff. This way, in close cooperation with the social welfare centers, we can provide support to individuals in coping with the challenges of the context in which they live, and who will often retreat them to return to negative forms of behavior.
The combination of support through positive peer group, individual counseling and regular work of social welfare centers, contributes to the adoption of socially and individually useful behaviors and rejecting negative ones which lead young men in disadvantage surrounding.
Young men will receive support in creating personal short-term and long-term plans, which will serve as a landmark for support to the project implementers, and for social welfare centers.
For each direct user there will be created individual assessment of changes and impact of the project, which will serve as a form of assessing the effectiveness of the project. The main variables will be repeating of previous (criminal, misdemeanor or other harmful) activities and the achievement of set goals in terms of changes in compliance.
